I had been getting notices for awhile for the Julep Maven box. I finally decided to bite, though I’m not a nail polish fanatic so I’m not too sure if I will keep this subscription for long.
Julep has their own product line and though it includes skincare and other items, the main focus is the polish. After receiving my first box, I later found out that Julep will often put out special edition “mystery” boxes. I was super excited about the Halloween version I received but just missed their holiday themed one. However, a quick call to customer service revealed that they have smaller “mystery” packs so I decided to get the Major Mystery 1 and 2 versions that I will be reviewing today. (See my other Julep reviews here.)
Can’t wait to see if they will include any of the spoiler items listed in the original Diamond Mystery box or something equally cool! By the way, many of these items are currently on special (as of 12/24) so get them at a great price while you can!
THE DETAILS: These Diamond Major Mystery packs (#1 and #2) originally retailed for $24.99 each but with a Black Friday discount I received them for $14.99 each (so $29.99 total). Julep ships throughout the U.S. and Canada and shipping is included in the price. I believe Mystery packs, boxes, and the like are non-refundable, while their regular price items are. (But don’t quote me on that.)
Here’s the first look. Note that I purchased two trio sets (one of them can be seen on the left in the green package) so that is not part of what the Diamond Major Mystery packs included. I’m a bit surprised to see the items not separately wrapped into “packs” but I guess now I know for future purchases.
The first item I pull out is this Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil, full size. One thing I do love about the Mystery packs is that you aren’t getting samples…you are getting full-size products. I am very particular about my skincare products so this will be going in the swap/gift pile but these packs are already off to a great start in terms of value. This retails for $28.
Next up is Julep’s Clean Slate Conditioning Nail Polish Remover. It is acetone-free, which is nice and comes with a handy pump. Retail value is $14.
Also included was Julep’s Hand and Cuticle Stick. I probably won’t use this as I have other creams, etc. but it’s a great inclusion. Retail value is $22.
This Konjac Sponge is intriguing. I’ve heard some things about these sponges, which are made out of a fibrous Japanese root. Retail value is $12.
The next polish is called Natalia. It is described as a refined copper metallic. It’s a color I have something similar to so I’ll be putting this up for swap. This retails for $14.
Ok, so the grand total for these two Diamond Mystery Packs is $90. Given that I paid $29.99 for the two, that is triple the value. Not too shabby and again, all of these products are full-size and current. I didn’t get any of the two spoiler polishes, but I am hopeful I can swap for them online. In any case, based on my luck with these mystery boxes/packs, I think I will be purchasing more of these for gifting throughout the year!
