Subscription Box Insanity: Little Lace Box (Nov. ’14)

Little Lace Box

Little Lace Box

I’m very excited about a new(ish) subscription called Little Lace Box. Their motto is a box that is “for women who know they’re worth it”. A very tall order!

I missed out on LLB’s September box, which included some beautiful home items that I totally lusted after. I couldn’t purchase the box after the fact but was able to sign up for October’s box which promised to get a girl party ready. With the holidays coming up, this was a perfect theme to focus on and while not all the products were to my personal taste, they were all SO well-curated and high quality!

The theme for November’s box was based on the holiday poem, “The Night Before Christmas”  (actual title “A Visit from St. Nicholas“) and in the words of the owners/founders, they “visualized this box as that secret Christmas gift you would give yourself”. Ohhh, I can’t wait!

THE DETAILS: The Little Lace Box promises to deliver “hand-curated, nearly impossible-to-find designer products directly to your doorstep every month”. In fact, according to their site, it will be “brimming with high-end, brand name beauty, lifestyle, and home product samples to treat yourself to and dazzle your friends during your next night out”. It just sounds better and better. They do not currently deliver internationally, only to the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The cost of a box is $39.99 which includes shipping. I had a coupon and was able to get my first box for $29.99. This box is non-refundable. LLB also has a loyalty program so you earn points for purchasing and reviewing products on their site.

Paper Materials -and a personal note!

Paper Materials -and a personal note!

As with my last box, I received a hand-written note. But no joke…they actually referenced the online review I did for the last box!! I was floored, flattered…this really is a home-grown enterprise where the owners/founders are hands on and invested in their customers. They also sent out a note to subscribers noting that they totally understand that with the holidays coming, a subscription box may not be in the budget and that by contacting customer service, subscribers could put a temporary hold on boxes until less lean times. So very happy to support this small business and these thoughtful owners.

Speaking of which…Small Business Saturday is coming up on 11/29/2014. Shop and support the small business owner this holiday season!

First look

First look

Okay, soap box aside, here’s the first look! I see a lot of pretty things that I can’t wait to dig in to.

Holiday pillow

Holiday pillow

The first item I pulled out was this dear little throw pillow by Burton + Burton. As a youngest child, probably no truer (secret) sentiment would suit. This is one of four that you can buy in a set; the retail value of this is about $15.

Body Butter

Body Butter

Next up is this  “luxe”, lavender-scented body butter by Pre de Provence. It smells heavenly! Seriously, it smells like fresh-cut lavender…I was going to gift this but I’ve selfishly decided it must stay in my possession! This retails for $15.99.

Laser cut wood ornament

The next item is my bonus item. I believe subscribers received a holiday tea towel or this beautiful wood ornament. I am personally really happy with my ornament for its simple, earthy design. I can’t decide whether to gift it or put it on the tree this year. It’s also so beautifully packaged that I am having a hard time not leaving it in the box! This product was created by another small business, Timber Green Woods, and they have many other beautiful products…including a whole collection of mini snowflakes! This retails for $14.95.

Candle

This Hillhouse Naturals Snow-covered Evergreens candle smelled so wonderful and holiday-esque! I also loved the earthy, wicker-like framing around the glass base. (Though you can see the paint flakes a bit.) I saw that other subscribers got this in Amaryllis and exclaimed about the scent so I may have to make an order. It retails for $27.80.

Lavender Bath Salts

Lavender Bath Salts

The next item I pulled out were these lavender bath salts, also by Pre de Provence. LLB, how did you know that my favorite indulgence is baths, and that I adore bath salts best of all? It’s like you know me or something! These retail for $11.69.

Holiday Matches

Holiday Matches

Next up were these vintage-looking, holiday matches by HomArt. I really love vintage and can’t wait to use these this holiday season to light candles around the house. These retail for $3.

Warm Slipper Socks

Warm Slipper Socks

Next up are these off-white/eggshell slipper socks by Lemon. They are SO soft and I love the leather bottoms as well as the color which is a huge swathe of my wardrobe. (Other subscribers got them in blush.) These are angora and retail for $49.99.

Scarf

Reverse of scarf

Last but not least is this gorgeous plaid scarf by Shiraleah. It is so big that it could be a small throw or shawl, as well! This is just as well-made and luxe as the purse included in the last box by this company, so I am pleased and also love that it is double-sided with a more neutral black and white pattern on the reverse. It retails for $29.99.

So seriously, could this box/company be any more amazing?! I really did feel like I got an wonderful treat…now let’s see if I got a deal! The total retail value for these items is $168.41. That’s more than 4 times the normal monthly price of $39.99! Plus, I love every item I received and feel very much in the holiday spirit! Thank you Little Lace Box!

Stay tuned for December’s box which has the theme of “A Fresh New Start”!
