In case you were wondering if I was the only one partaking in the subscription box fun, the answer is a resounding no! Meet a beloved member of our little family, my fur-baby Wednesday!
There are a lot of great stories to tell you about Wednesday, and since I have you here as a captive audience, you will likely hear more than your fair share. Suffice it to say that she is a persnickety thing who is also possibly very spoiled. Here is the latest example, courtesy of dog-focused subscription service BarkBox!
(See my other BarkBox reviews here.)
THE DETAILS: BarkBox is for dogs only and allows you to somewhat personalize your monthly boxes based on the size of your pet. So Wednesday’s box is for larger dogs of course. It is normally $29 a month but I decided to get a full year subscription so with a coupon I had, got the boxes for about $17 a month. Not bad if you have a heavy chewer like we do. We’d spend at least that much a month on chewing bones, treats, and toys that die quick deaths so it saves us some time having them delivered to our door. The monthly price includes shipping and the box will ship throughout the U.S. and Canada. From what I can tell, the box is non-refundable though BarkBox will allow you to return a defective item for a replacement.
It’s so funny when a BarkBox comes in to the house because W, with her keen sense of smell, knows it’s something good and is all wagging stubby tale and doggy smiles!
Here’s the first look. BarkBox usually includes a fun card stating the theme (February is Mardi Gras!) On the opposite side, a list of the items in the box and their codes are available for quick re-order. I’ve never used this service, which involves texting in with the reorder code, so if any of you have, let me know how it is? By the way, I believe nearly all of the items BarkBox sends are made in the U.S.
First up is this fun Delca Jester Ball toy. So on theme and I can’t wait to let her play! It retails for $9.
Next is a box of Le Petit Treat King Cake Biscuit treats. I thought at first they would be King Cake flavor but they are peanut butter flavor. Not that it matters to W; she’ll eat em! Retail value is about $4.99.
Yay! Another great theme item. This is Harry Barker Stuffed Mardi Gras Mask with Rope. It retails for $14.
Hmm, I’m not sure about these treats. Jambalaya seems like it would be upsetting to doggie tummies but this looks pretty legit and another great, on-theme item. This size of Feel Good Treat Company Cajun Jumbalaya treats retails for $7.
Last up is this Butchers’s Block Bully Stick. We’ve gotten items from this brand before and they always get eaten. This one will too. It retails for $2.99.
This was a great box in terms of theme. And all these items will at least be tried, if not loved. Total dollar value for the box is about calculation, the total dollar value comes to about $37.98. Once again about 2.5 times what I paid, and more than full price. Two paws up for BarkBox!
