One of the habits I’ve been trying to cultivate is that of putting more effort into connecting with loved ones and showing them in big ways and small that I’m thinking of them and care. So when I saw a free shipping discount for an artisan card subscription, I decided that this might be the incentive I needed to make some good on that thought!
Today’s review is for a boutique card subscription called Haute Box by Haute Papier. Haute Papier is a small business (female-owned!) focused on purveying fine paper goods. According to the website, “each quarter you’ll receive a fabulous box filled with Haute Papier goodies delivered straight to your door!” As I do have a bit of a glut of mass-produced note cards, a box of true stationery goods every quarter sounds like a wonderful bit of luxury to share with my loved ones.
THE DETAILS: This box retails for $20 a quarter, but shipping and handling (at least for me) would be an additional $4; so $24 total per quarter. I was able to get a discount such that shipping and handling was free. All said and done then, my Haute Box cost me $20.96 per packet. Haute Papier’s website promises that the value of each delivery would be at least $20.
Here’s the first look. This quarter’s Haute Box came has a different mix than previous boxes, which were mostly cards. This time, there are a total of 3 cards, a pencil, two small notebooks, and a gift tag.
I really like this greeting card and Haute Papier says it’s from a new line they created. I couldn’t find this for sale online so I’m estimating that retail value of this is approximately $4.
This box included two thank you notes from Haute Papier’s own line in teal and white with fancy gold envelope inserts. They are simple but very modern looking. Retail value is $4.67 for the two.
Here is a foil embossed, hand pressed gift tag from the Haute Papier line. Retail value is $2.
Also from their line, here is one large notebook (retail value $8) and one small notebook (retail value $4) with foil embossed covers, and a foil embossed pencil (retail value $1.50). The total retail value for these is $13.50.
All said and done, the value of this box was about $24.17. That’s slightly more than I paid, is in keeping with Haute Papier’s promise to include at least a $20 value in each packet, but is only slightly more than what I would have paid without the S&H discount.
This was my final packet from Haute Papier. I thought some of the things I received were nice but all-in-all I wasn’t super impressed with the subscription itself. I think for the value, I’d have preferred to select my items in store.
What do you all think?
